Capital

The word capital comes from the Latin capitale, which in turn derives from caput, meaning “head.” In the Middle Ages, a person’s wealth was measured in heads of cattle.

66 kg of dried porcine blood, inscribed with קדוש (kódesh), meaning “holy” in Hebrew. This installation refers to Palestinian territory and to the bloodshed and genocide in Gaza. The Hebrew word, which shares a root with the Arabic قدس (qods), evokes the historical conflict between Jews and Muslims over sacred land.

Throughout the exhibition, the inscription was transformed into מהנהר עד לים, “From the river to the sea,” also written in Hebrew.
