Bid-e Sharif

On 2 October 2022, students at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran joined the protests following the killing of Mahsa Amini. The demonstration was violently suppressed by police forces, with dozens of students detained, humiliated, and brutally beaten. In videos circulated on social media, students can be seen gathered around a willow tree, chanting the slogan Zan, Zendegi, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom). Based on the images circulated on social media, Kimia chose to draw the willow using the only pencil preserved in the San Telmo Museum collection, donated in 1999 and originating from the Ezkierdi farmhouse in Beasain (Gipuzkoa).
